Emotionally-Focused Individual Therapy
Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy (EFIT) is a compassionate and evidence-based approach that helps individuals connect deeply with their emotions and transform how they relate to themselves and others. Rooted in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) developed by Dr. Sue Johnson, EFIT applies its principles to individual therapy, emphasizing the role of emotional bonds and attachment needs in shaping our experiences. Drawing from attachment theory, humanistic psychology, and neuroscience, EFIT focuses on understanding and reshaping emotional responses to promote healing, making it particularly effective for addressing anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship struggles.
Key components of EFIT include exploring how early relationships influence current emotional patterns, accessing and transforming core emotions, and engaging in experiential techniques within a safe therapeutic environment. Somatic Techniques
When we experience trauma, our bodies instinctively enter survival mode—fight, flight, freeze, or fawn. While these responses protect us during danger, they can become ingrained in our nervous system long after the trauma, leading to chronic tension, anxiety, emotional overwhelm, and a feeling of being stuck. The very strategies that once ensured our safety may now hinder us from fully engaging with life.
Somatic techniques reconnect you with your body to heal these ingrained survival responses. By identifying patterns, regulating the nervous system through techniques like breathwork and grounding exercises, and fostering deeper self-awareness, this approach helps you move beyond survival mode. Through gentle, mindful work, you can restore balance and reclaim a sense of safety and presence. The ultimate goal is to reconnect with your body, embrace life with resilience, and transform old survival patterns into empowered ways of being. -
